Senator Nene Pimentel’s “insertion” joke angers Mar Roxas
Senator Nene Pimentel's off colored insertion joke piqued Senator Mar Roxas. Really, Senator Pimentel, was that gentlemanly?
It would have been a joke fit for some seedy bar late at night with friend who had a bit too much to drink.
But it was late in the afternoon and it was among senators in a hall supposedly consecrated to deliberations on policies which would affect the future of the land.
Senator Nene Pimentel chose to make a joke, a double entendre, with the sorry consequence of being censured second after he had uttered the words.
This excerpt from ABS-CBN News dot come says it all:
“My name was mentioned in the context that we are ganging up, that this is all political, that we are using insertions, when he (Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano) said in a blanket statement that we had insertions,” Roxas said.
“I say no. I had no insertion on any matter. In fact, I have no insertion, period. Because we’re in the minority! Let alone an insertion for a road to pass through any such property,” Roxas said.
Pimentel answered: “Well, well, I am sure that after your marriage, you had some insertions.”
“But that may be different,” he added.
The comment prompted laughter from those seated in the gallery, but angered Roxas. “That is an affront on my wife (Korina Sanchez), Mr. President!” he said.
Roxas immediately demanded that Pimentel’s statement be removed from the official transcript of the Senate session.
One needs to ask, how far will Senator Pimentel go to defend his colleague Senator Manuel Villar over the ethics complaint in connection with the C-5 controversy?
More to the point, was Mar Roxas paid in the same coin? Remember the time that he stood up along Ayala and said “Putangina?”

it was a sign of defeat for sen. pimentel. this day marked his last days in the senate and as a politician. I’m saddenned by the fact that part of the tax i pay goes to this kind of man. let there be no more like him in the govt.!!!
The joke of Senator Pimentel was in bad taste and very inappropriate. Very disappointing. I thought he was a statesman… politician pala.

I’m from NJ and just watching Unang Hirit; I applaud Arnold Clavio’s comments about Mr. Pimentel. He’s right when he said that all women voters should not vote Pimentel’s daughter on the coming election. Binastos din nya ang mga kababaihan. Mr. Pimentel should not forget that he’s being paid by the people and should not use the Senate in a badly manner. It only shows that he’s aging very disrespectfull. I don’t know if he’s still running this May but if not good for him. The country do not need nor deserve a person like him in the Senate.

If the insertion joke did not make your day and if indeed degraded Sen. Pimentel’s position as statesman then what can you say about Sen. Mar Roxas “Putang Ina” statement he used in a rally against chacha. I am not pro not anti with any of these senators. What matters most is what they have been doing and what else they can do for the country. Hopefully this would be a reawakening for us Filipinos of how bad if not worst we elect such politicians with no moral integrity.
Mar Roxas’ “Putang Ina” was used during a rally against something really kamura-mura, while Nene Pimentel’s “insertion joke” was expressed during a senate hearing. Totally different venue and scenario. Although I am not used to swearing, I agree with Mar Roxas’ sentiments for Cha-Cha. I would also laugh on Pimentel’s joke if it was NOT DONE at the senate. I used to be a fan of Pimentel, let us not forget that he had also been instrumental in passing good laws such as the Local Government Code. I guess Pimentel had passed his prime in his career in public service, and it is really time for him to retire.
This one comment does not define the kind of man Sen. Nene Pimentel is. Does this one joke take away the decades of work he has done for the people, like the Local Government Code and all the other legislation he has passed? Does this make him an an evil man, even when the rest of his political career remains untainted with political scandal? Honestly, people are blowing this way out of proportion. Plus, he isn’t even insulting Korina Sanchez in anyway. Seriously, this is frustrating, It may have been an inappropriate comment but don’t hate the man for it. Geez.
